After the black sand of Guadeloupe we reach the white beaches of Antigua. This helps us to forget the hassles of the local bureaucracy.
For a week we were stuck in Jolly Harbour (first we had to get special Visas because of the Cricket World Cup and then had a little bug from the drinking water we had taken in Les Saintes). Thanks to the nice restaurants, the swimming pool, the beaches, the hot showers, and the shopping possibilities, it was not the worst experience.
The manchineel tree (hippomane mancinella) looks similar to a ficcus but is a real hazard in many of the Windward and Leeward islands. It's fruit is highly toxic and if you happen to stand under one of these trees during rain, the drops may burn your skin.
Anahita at anchor between Rabbit Island and Redhead. Yes, there are still some anchorages in Antigua that look like this one. To get there may be a bit tricky, though, as many reefs and coral heads hide just a few feet under the turquoise water. Navigational errors can easily result in big holes in your hull.
 Great Bird Island.
